I have read this book 4 times. Every time I read it I find something different. I love how you opened your piece. I know everything you talked about. You have it fresh air for me. Getting into it I was very neutral on the characters. I never read this in school. I started it on my own learning about Fitzgerald. Every character has their flaws. Boy, a lot. I'm so ready for the rest. When you asked for ideas, this came to my mind. Hemingway is the other. But anyways this was great. Every piece you write I am captured. Your thoughts and ideas just fill me. Thank you 🫶🌹💯🕺💃

That means so much to me. I’ve also read it 4 times! And every time I read it I find something different and change my perspective on the characters! That’s the power of a good book! Talking about Hemingway would be a pleasure! Might talk about him on the next series! Thank you so much for your comment, glad you appreciated it! 🥹💝✨

D.J!!! Thank you so much for reading this! And honestly, this is way more fun if you’ve never read it! I will be so happy if you decide to read it after reading this series, it will be something that I’ll forever brag about to people because it’s one of my favorite books!

I tried to bring the essence of the story (obviously the words b*tch and incel aren’t used on the original LOL) so it won’t be that different from the book, it’s just a little summarized… and I’ve obviously put my glitter on top. Have you seen the Baz Luhrmann movie? It’s also very good if you want to see a summarized version of the whole book! 💖✨

I might just have to pick it up! I'm mainly a Victorian lit or genre fiction girl (💔) but am trying HARD to branch out into more 20th century classics. glitter-ified summaries seem like a solid way in!! I haven't seen the Luhrmann movie but will add it to my list.

Evangelia!!!! That means SO much to me! And it’s so funny because I actually didn’t like this book when I first read it! It took me many years and many in depth research to understand this book beyond what’s in the page and to love it! And I definitely wanted to bring what I’ve learnt in a more… contemporary way lol! I’m super happy that you enjoyed it because it was a lot of work - but definitely worth it!!!! <3

First of all, I love this intro! Thanks for compiling these amazing photos from the 1920s! Especially the ash dump, which I never knew about.

As a Gatsby fan, though, I am going to take issue with you about Nick. He does care about Daisy being cheated on. When Myrtle calls Tom in the middle of dinner, Nick thinks that "the thing for Daisy to do was to rush out of the house, child in arms," but Daisy just puts up with it. Nick clearly dislikes Tom but can't get away from him in Chapter 2 because Tom has such a dominating personality.

Lia! I’m so glad you’re here! And so glad that you appreciate the photos! This means so much to me, because it was a lot of work lol.

And I agree with you! But I do think that if he cared about his morals more than anything, he would definitely confront Tom’s dominating personality and call him out on his behavior. But I totally agree with you, that’s not the way that he was supposed to be written. He isn’t the hero, nor the villain. He’s just the narrator. He thinks a lot, but he doesn’t do enough, because that’s not his place to do so. Thank you so much for your comment and for your point of view! I appreciate it so much! 🥹 You’re the best!
